Silver Bells, Silver Bells

Element #47: All Ready for Christmas!

Issue #3:
Silver When Old

Putting up your Christmas tree and setting seasonal objects around is quite fun. Oh no! Your favorite silver bowl is tarnished! How did this happen? Silver is a very pretty color, and it is a transition metal with lots of neat properties. The first two issues were a bit centralized around life sciences, so finally let's have an ode to element 47. Also, there is a special feature this issue running from December 1 to the 24th. It is the Science Village Advent Calendar. Come back each day in December before Christmas for another fun science tidbit, and be sure to see the very special one on Christmas Eve.
Merry Christmas!
